The Union Ministry of Human Resource Development released the NIRF ranking of Indian universities for the year 2020 on Thursday. The country's prestigious Indian Institute of Science (IISc), like this time last year, still holds the first position.
Jawaharlal Nehru University (jnu), like last year, stands second
Banaras Hindu University (BHU) is third place.
University of delhi (DU) is at 11th position.The NIRF ranking 2020 was to be announced in April but was postponed due to corona virus infection and lockdown.
The National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) ranking is released every year by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India. NIRF has created an institution for ranking universities, engineering, management and pharmacy institutes of the country.
Earlier there was no government organization for ranking. Private institutions used to issue ranking, which raised various questions. But now government and private institutions are ranked by the government on the basis of different standards.
The NIRF rankings are given to institutions based on Teaching Learning and Resources, Research and Professional Practice, Graduation Outcome, Outreach and Inclusion, Perception.
