University of Delhi: To curb the spread of the deadly coronavirus wreaking havoc in the national capital, the varsity has set up vaccination centres to provide Covid-19 vaccination to both teaching and non-teaching staff presently working at the university.
An official notice announced that two vaccination centres have been set up at World University Services (WUS) Health Care, North Campus and Shivaji College (WUS Health Care, West). However, the university had started vaccination facilities at World University Services (WUS) Health Centre (South Campus) from April 19 onwards. The WUS centres were inaugurated by the Vice-Chancellor (VC), P C Joshi and the registrar, Vikas Gupta on April 15.
It should be noted that both the centres will provide vaccination facilities to university staff above the age of 45. While the Covishield vaccine is available at WUS Health Centre, Covaxin will be provided to eligible university employees and staff of its affiliated colleges at Shivaji College. The centres will be operational between 9 am to 5 pm.
Subsequently, after the inauguration of the centres, VC, P C Joshi who had got himself vaccinated on March 10 took to Twitter and addressed the varsity staff encouraging those eligible to get vaccinated against Covid-19 urgently and urged all to follow the Covid-19 guidelines strictly.
“I would urge all of you, who are eligible to kindly go to World University Services (W.U.S.) centre in North Campus and get yourself vaccinated as early as you can. Please, I again repeat, strictly follow Covid protocols, because your life is very precious to us. So, take care and all the best,” Joshi said in a video posted by the University of Delhi.
