Delhi University Final Year Exams Postponed, To Commence From June 1

University of Delhi: Taking into account the alarming surge in Covid-19 cases across the country, the varsity has decided to postpone the examination of final-year students, which were scheduled to commence in May 2021. Reportedly, the exams shall now begin from June 1 in OBE mode however, the official notification remains awaited. 

D.S. Rawat, DU’s Dean of Examination told The Hindu, “A meeting was held on Saturday with all the heads of departments and Deans. The meeting was chaired by the Vice-Chancellor and it was decided that the examinations for the final-year students will be postponed to June 1. A notification regarding the same will be issued on Monday.”

Additionally, as per senior officials, examinations for the intermediary batches stand cancelled for now and a decision in the respect will be taken later.

The move comes at a time when several students’ and teachers’ associations had earlier urged the administration to defer the exams. Delhi University Teachers Association (DUTA) had raised its concerns regarding the conduct of May-June Examinations and the ongoing online classes amid the prevailing covid-19 crisis. It said no one is in a position to write or conduct examinations at this moment.

The varsity, in an announcement dated April 29, 2021 said a decision on the May-June exams will be taken at the earliest, in compliance with guidelines issued by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and, the Education Ministry and the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA). 

The last date of filling up the examination form for the 4th , 6th and 8th semester UG, PG courses has been extended till May 7, 2021 5.00 pm.
