It's near-lockdown in Punjab till May 15, no entry without COVID negative report

Punjab reported a record single-day spike of 157 COVID-19 fatalities and 7,327 new cases on Sunday. In amid of rising covid cases in Punjab, the Punjab government said that all shops selling non-essential items will remain closed in the state till May 15.

Punjab government on Monday announced not more than two persons can travel in a car, 50 percent staff strength at government offices and a negative coronavirus test report must for those entering the state as part of added curbs amid rising COVID-19 cases and fatalities.

Anybody arriving in Punjab must have a negative Covid-19 report, which is not more than 72-hour old or produces a vaccination certificate, at least of one dose, over two weeks old, the order stated. On the vehicular movement, the state government has announced that not more than two people will be allowed to travel in a car at a time. No pillion rider will be allowed on scooters or bikes, except for those belonging to the same family.

The government has formed a strategy to set up small containment zones in the area seeing higher number of covid cases.
